Salmond to open Amazon sites in Fife and Edinburgh Tuesday, 15th November 2011

First Minister Alex Salmond will officially open internet retailer Amazon’s new centres in Fife and Edinburgh today.

A one-million sq ft distribution centre creating 950 full-time jobs will open in Dunfermline, along with a customer services centre at Waverley Gate in the capital.

Back in May, when Amazon first announced the move, Salmond said: "This announcement reinforces and supports our message that Scotland is an attractive and competitive destination for major global companies to invest and do business."

Salmond will join Fife Council leader Peter Grant and Amazon vice-president of European operations Allan Lyall in Dunfermline at noon.

The First Minister is then due in Edinburgh where he will meet new Amazon staff.
