Westfield announces £1 bn White City plans Tuesday, 28th June 2011
The Australian property developer has released plans for another London shopping spree- this time adding 500,000 sq ft of retail space to its West London shopping centre.
John Lewis is said to be eyeing a new department store that will be added as part of Westfield’s £1 billion extension, which will create a pedestrianised area joining the shopping centre to Shepherd’s Bush town centre.
Plans for the extension will be on display in the area next month, with consultations taking place locally. It is thought the proposals would create 2,500 permanent jobs for West London, along with 1,700 new homes. If successful, the development will be “phased over time.”
Duncan Bower, director of development and asset management at Westfield, said: "We believe our plans represent an exciting new chapter for the area and will continue the regeneration of the area that is already under way."
