Invasion of the paper dolls: Nordic ID causes a stir at the Retail Business Technology Expo 2012 Friday, 16th March 2012

Nordic ID's stand at the Retail Business Technology Expo 2012

As the leading manufacturers of mobile computers and handheld terminals in Europe, Nordic ID decided to get creative at this week’s Retail Business Technology Expo, launching a demo with a difference.

To promote the group’s radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, Nordic ID let visitors get creative with cardboard cut-out dolls and outfit designs which were later featured on the firm’s Facebook site.

Speaking before the show, Mark Tailford, Managing Director, Nordic ID, said, “ As the leading experts in Europe for RFID we’ll be able to share all our experience and information in the RFID zone.   Visitors will benefit from easy, understandable demos from fun people in a relaxed atmosphere.  We decided to host the RFID Zone at Retail Business Technology Expo as it seemed like a very good event when we visited last year, and its focus on RFID was especially appealing to us.”

Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions ran from 13-14 March 2012 at London’s Earls Court. For more information visit http://www.retailbusinesstechnologyexpo.com/

Global Retail Forum teams up with Retail Business Technology Expo for 2012 Wednesday, 14th March 2012

Business cards at the ready? You’ll need plenty spare as it’s been a bit of a networking marathon for the Global Retail Forum (GRF) over the past two days.

As the world’s leading professional network exclusive to retailers, GRF this year teamed up with RBTE to host a bevy of retail-focused meetings, each featuring a senior industry speaker focusing on everything from legal, merchandising, IT, business management, finance, marketing, supply chain and eCommerce. Executives from Marks & Spencer, New Look, Peacocks Group and Limited Brands acted as panellists for the meetings, and were available for questioning towards the end of each discussion.

Mark Eve, Chairman of GRF said, “Partnering with Retail Business Technology Expo means that we’re able to offer our industry colleagues an even greater opportunity to come together, network and talk about the issues and challenges that retailers face in such a tough and competitive market. There are currently over 700 GRF members from the UK and across the globe, representing the most respected and well known retailers and are senior decision makers with responsibilities across the business from international franchise and operations through to global marketing and supply chain, as well as CEOs, senior directors and founders.”

The world’s largest retail trade association, the National Retail Federation (NRF) is set to take centre stage at the Retail Business Technology Expo 2012 (RBTE 2012) this year.

Teaming up with its retail technology standards division, ARTS, and digital division, Shop.org, NRF will host a pavilion with eight member organisations, bringing together thought leaders across its retail community.

Anyone stopping by the pavilion can expect to see a showcase of the latest retail technologies, with a specific focus on mobile, social media and cloud computing.

To top it off, ARTS executive director Richard Mader will be presenting a seminar session ‘Leveraging the ARTS Social Commerce Blueprint for Success’ and, Artemis Berry, Senior Director of Content and Community at Shop.org will present ‘Omni-channel Retail: Socialising. Localising. Mobilising.’

“ARTS has always prided itself on the relationships it has with the UK and EMEA retail community,” said ARTS Executive Director Richard Mader. “With nearly half of ARTS members headquartered outside the United States, Retail Business Technology Expo has provided us with an ideal platform to showcase ARTS standards and educational products. Along with Shop.org, we look forward to conversations with UK and EMEA retailers to learn ideas for new IT support products and to share the knowledge of all things digital.”

Nick Field, Event Director, Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions, said, “We’re delighted to be working so closely with NRF, ARTS and Shop.org. As a globally recognised retail trade association, their presence at the show will bring even more value to our visitors.”
