Fashion sales back in vogue for John Lewis Friday, 17th May 2013
Despite tough comparisons across the business, John Lewis’ fashion sales rose 4.8 per cent in the week to 11 May, as the warm weather spurred on clothing lines. A warm bank holiday weekend brought a sharp drop in footfall for John Lewis in the seven days to 11 May, with total sales falling to -0.2 per cent year-on-year.

Alliance Boots and Walgreen sign deal with AmerisourceBergen Tuesday, 19th March 2013
Alliance Boots and partner Walgreen Co on Tuesday announced a 10-year deal with drug distributor AmerisourceBergen, which could also see them buy up to 23 per cent of the company. Alliance Boots, which trades as Boots in the UK, is the nation's leading pharmacy-led and beauty retailer.

John Lewis sales rise 13% over Christmas trading Thursday, 3rd January 2013
John Lewis sales rose 13 per cent in the five weeks to 29 December as the retailer continued to outperform in a troubled time for the sector. The department store chain said total sales for the festive period rose 14.8 per cent to £684.8 million compared to last year. Online sales during the five week period grew 44.3 per cent and accounted for a quarter of group sales.

Capital Shopping Centre partnership could add 3,000 jobs to retail sector Tuesday, 16th October 2012
Capital Shopping Centres has launched a new partnership initiative with Reid Kerr College in Paisley that could provide 3,000 retail jobs in the area. Operator of Lakeside, Trafford Centre and MetroCentre, CSC will work with the local college to deliver a range of retail training course at its Braehead shopping centre in Renfrewshire.

PPR and Yoox announce ecommerce joint venture Saturday, 4th August 2012
Balenciaga's new boutique on Paris' rue Saint-Honoré. French luxury and retail group PPR on Friday revealed it had set up a joint venture with Italian online fashion retailer Yoox as it looks to expand its ecommerce operations. The new partnership will be 51 per cent owned by PPR and 49 per cent by Yoox, selling the French conglomerate’s high-end luxury brands through a global digital platform.

John Lewis has posted yet another week of double digit sales as the unpredictable weather for once worked in the retailer’s favour. The department store group said on Friday sales rose 15.3 per cent year-on-year to £71.6 million in the week to 7 July.

John Lewis sales down 2.2% for first week of 2012 Friday, 13th January 2012
John Lewis has announced sales for the week to 7 January fell 2.2 per cent at its department stores, and 2.6 per cent excluding VAT. The bellwether retailer said the disappointing start to the year was down to one less trading day,”and actually masked some very promising individual daily
sales.”
“Trade improved as the week progressed, reaffirming the impact of the VAT increase last year," John Lewis said of the performance of its department stores.

Cartier teams up with French band AIR Friday, 18th November 2011
French duo AIR have become the latest artists to collaborate with Cartier, releasing their first new piece of music in three years. Titled “Painted Love”, the song accompanies a short film by New York directors Waverly, depicting an artist’s obsession for his painted love, all the while wearing Cartier’s latest Love bracelets.

John Lewis sales remain flat with sales up just 0.1% Friday, 30th September 2011
Britain’s biggest department store group today posted flat weekly sales in the week to 24 September. The John Lewis partnership said sales at its department stores were up 0.1 per cent to £58.74 million, with sales excluding VAT falling 1.7 per cent. "This suggests that consumers may be becoming even more careful in their spending in the face of the ongoing serious squeeze on their purchasing power and major concerns over the economy, jobs and financial market turmoil," said Howard Archer, chief economist IHS Global Insight.
