N Brown makes timely promotions to aid growth

N Brown on Wednesday announced a return to sales growth in the run-up to Christmas. The catalogue and internet shopping firm said revenues increased 2.3 per cent in the 19 weeks to 7 January, with like-for-like revenue excluding sales from new stores up 2.0 per cent. That compared with a like-for-like sales fall of 1.5 per cent in the six weeks to 8 October.

N Brown holds its ground

The internet and home catalogue retailer specialising in older and larger shoppers reported a 5 per cent rise in first-half profit in the 26 weeks to 27 August. N Brown today announced it made a pre-tax profit of £44.8 million in the first half, compared with £42.3 million made in the same period last year.

Simply Be to open first bricks-and-mortar store Friday, 2nd September 2011


Shopping group N Brown is to open its first bricks-and-mortar store for its plus-size brand Simply Be at Liverpool One on September 22.

The store will boast kiosks, catalogues and click-and-collect areas to push its multichannel offer.

N Brown group development director Paul Kendrick said the store had been designed with the larger customer in mind. The store features spacious changing rooms with a large lounge area.

Four stores will follow next year, with the next store opening in Bury on October 6.

Freddie Flintoff is a tall order for Jacamo Monday, 11th July 2011

Jacamo owner N Brown has confirmed former cricket ace Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff will become the new face of the menswear brand.

At six foot foor Flintoff will be a perfect fit for the big and tall men’s retailer, and will star in the brand’s catalogue and online store from August.

Along with this the retired sports star is said to be working on his own range, ‘Flintoff by Jacamo’ due to launch in January 2012. The range will focus on staple pieces including dark wash jeans, cargo trousers and utility jackets, with prices starting at £35.

N Brown chief executive Alan White said: “Menswear has been one of the fastest growing areas in our portfolio driven by the performance of the Jacamo brand. We are very excited to have Freddie on board as brand ambassador, who with his broad athletic build will no doubt provide a strong point of identity for our customer base.”

Jacamo is N Brown’s fastest growing brand and reported total revenues up 66 percent year-on-year.
