Sales set to surge 40% for Asos Monday, 10th June 2013
Third quarter sales are expected to rise by at least 40 per cent for the online fashion retailer as shoppers decided to stay indoors instead of braving the cold weather on the high street. All eyes will be on Asos, the UK’s largest internet-only clothing retailer on Wednesday as it prepares to report back on third-quarter trading.

Research finds ‘untapped opportunity’ for European retailers yet to embrace social media Tuesday, 7th May 2013
Facebook Login integration is found to be twice as popular with European online retailers as with their US counterparts, a new study published by Betapond finds. Betapond’s study, ‘Login to Boost Checkouts’, found 14.5 per cent of European online retailers implementing Login with Facebook, compared to just 6 per cent in the US.

Asos sales rise 37% for second quarter Wednesday, 20th March 2013
Online-only fashion retailer Asos posted a 37 per cent rise in second quarter sales thanks to expanding markets and strong Christmas trading in Britain. Retail sales rose 37 per cent by £186 million in the three months to 28 February, ahead of the market forecast of 34 per cent for the period and up again from a 30 per cent jump during Asos’ first quarter.

Target announces deal to acquire two e-commerce brands Friday, 15th March 2013
Target has agreed upon a deal to buy Chefs Catalog and Cooking.com, with the acquisition expected to be finalised within a month. Target announced through their corporate site yesterday that it will acquire the two e-commerce brands with the intention of increasing its sales of both food and kitchenware.

Ocado sales rise more than 14% year-on-year Thursday, 14th March 2013
Online grocery retailer Ocado has published its interim management statement for the 12 weeks leading to 24th February. The report shows that the company’s gross sales, average orders per week and average order size all increased. Gross sales totalled £185.5 million, an increase of 14.4 per cent over the previous year, average orders per week increased 12 per cent to 130,995.

Morrisons plans to sell food online before the end of 2013 Thursday, 14th March 2013
Supermarket chain Morrisons has announced its intention to begin online retail and delivery of food before the end of 2013. Morrisons is currently the fourth most powerful supermarket chain in the UK. All three of the supermarkets currently ranked above it (Sainsbury’s, Asda and the current leader Tesco) sell and deliver food through their respective websites.

Jonathan Lu to succeed Jack Ma as CEO of Alibaba Group Tuesday, 12th March 2013
Alibaba Group, China’s largest e-commerce firm, has announced that Jonathan Lu will become the company’s chief executive officer after founder Jack Ma steps down from the position this May. Lu, currently the chief data officer of Alibaba, has been with the company for over a decade, having been hired in 2000 to increase the e-retailer's sales in South China.

Asos first quarter sales rise 30% Tuesday, 11th December 2012
Online fashion retailer Asos managed to beat analysts’ forecasts with another set of heady results for its first quarter. The retailer on Tuesday announced total retail sales rose 30 per cent to £165.8 million in the three months to 30 November, thanks to strong trading in its domestic UK market and overseas.

Tesco expected to post fall in Q3 sales Monday, 3rd December 2012
The UK’s biggest retailer is this week expected to post a fall in sales despite undergoing a £1 billion turnaround strategy. According to the Telegraph, the City is forecasting like-for-like sales could drop up to 1 per cent for Tesco’s third quarter, compared with a 0.1 per cent rise in the second quarter this year.

Record-breaking Cyber Monday becomes biggest internet shopping day ever Tuesday, 27th November 2012
E-commerce sales rose 28.4 per cent for Cyber Monday, compared with the same time last year, as the latest reports put spending at USD 1.5 billion, making it the biggest online shopping day on record. According to research from comScore, Cyber Monday is now thought to be the biggest internet shopping day in history, with USD 1.5 billion spent in total, breaking all previous records since the digital firm began tracking shoppers’ online buying habits in 2001.
