Debenhams, Halfords, Hummingbird Bakery and MADE.COM have all been shortlisted for the 2013 Online Retail Awards, now in its fifth year of recognising excellence in the e-commerce sector. Open to all online retails across all platforms, the 2013 shortlist includes some high street stalwarts as well as some new kids on the block: three-year-old homeware brand Urbanara features alongside department store Debenhams and MADE.COM, while young British company Natural Balance Foods competes with 9-year old Hummingbird Bakery.

The World Retail Congress has now revealed the final shortlist for the annual World Retail Awards. A record number of entrants were picked for this year’s awards, encompassing an eclectic range of retail sectors and countries from around the world. The department store group found the average gift for dads in 2012 came to £16, dropping to £12 in 2013. While kids might be cutting corners, Debenhams on Friday reported seeing a 7 per cent increase in people buying Father’s day gifts compared to last year, suggesting those that do buy something are just being more thrifty with their Father’s Day purchases.
