House of Fraser has beaten ASOS, Debenhams and Marks & Spencer to number one as the UK’s most visible online brand, according to a report from digital marketing agency Greenlight. Profiling UK consumer online behaviour, the Greenlight report found 3.2 million searches via Google UK were made for womenswear, menswear and fashion accessories in July.

Debenhams on Thursday announced Peter Fitzgerald, director for retail at Google, would join the department store’s board as a non-executive director. The BBC’s Great British Bake Off has got the entire nation cooking as John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams all report a rise in baking equipment since the third series went on air. Traditional style cake stands, food mixers, baking trays, scales and kitchen accessories have been flying off the shelves according to Debenhams, while sales of bread-makers at John Lewis are up by 70 per cent.
