M&S linked to Jaeger bid Monday, 29th April 2013
Marks & Spencer reportedly considered making a bid for fashion label Jaeger last year, as the department store looked to boost its fashion credentials. According to a report by the Daily Mail, M&S chief executive Marc Bolland is said to have considered putting together an offer for Jaeger before it was bought by private equity group Better Capital in April 2012.

Kering has “great ambitions” for new Pomellato acquisition Thursday, 25th April 2013
After much speculation, luxury goods conglomerate Kering has confirmed the acquisition of a majority stake in the Pomellato group. Having recently undergone a rebranding from its previous incarnation as PPR, Kering said it had “great ambitions” for the Pomellato group, which covers its namesake label and sister brand Dodo.

New chief executive for Ben Sherman Friday, 19th April 2013
Iconic British clothing company Ben Sherman has appointed Mark Maidment as its new chief executive. Maidment has worked with Ben Sherman since 2002, and as the brand’s creative director from 2005. Having played a key role in repositioning the brand into more premium channels, Maidment has said to have helped evolve the Ben Sherman label for a modern audience.

Nicola Formichetti at Mugler's menswear A/W 2013-2014 show. Nicola Formichetti has reportedly cut ties with Mugler, the Paris fashion house he headed up as creative director for two and a half years, sparking rumours as to where the Lady Gaga stylist could be headed next. According to sources cited by the New York Post, Formichetti is expected to be named creative director at Diesel.

Battle for Hermès continues as LVMH is investigated Monday, 1st April 2013
An investigating magistrate has been appointed to examine the conditions under which LVMH has been increasing its share in the historic French fashion brand Hermès. LVMH, a multinational goods conglomerate which owns more than 40 luxury brands including Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Moët et Chandon, is accused of building up its stake in Hermès in secret, and now holds a 22.6 per cent share in the iconic handbag and accessories brand.

PPR announces Kering name change Friday, 22nd March 2013
What’s in a name? Global retail conglomerate PPR is set to make the final touches to its transformation into an international luxury brand after announcing a change in name and brand message. As of 18 June and subject to board approval, PPR will change its name to Kering (pronounced caring) and adopt a new symbol, of the “untamed owl”, along with a company signature that reads: “empowering imagination”.

Tesco, M&S and Boots top UK retail brand line-up Wednesday, 20th March 2013
Despite concerns the UK’s biggest retailer could be losing its competitive edge, Tesco remains the nation’s top retail brand, after losing 2 per cent in value last year to £7.2 billion. Its market share may have dropped below 30 per cent for the first time in eight years, but Tesco remains comfortably ahead of Marks & Spencer, who experienced a 5 per cent boost in brand value in the past year to £4.3 billion.

Morrisons unveils children’s clothing range Nutmeg Thursday, 28th February 2013
Following in the success of Asda’s George and Tesco’s F&F brands, Morrisons is set to introduce its first childrenswear brand, Nutmeg, into 100 stores. According to the Guardian, Morrisons will roll out the Nutmeg brand across stores from March, with the aim of launching an adult range within the next 12 months.
