May sees biggest annual increase in two years for consumer spending Thursday, 6th June 2013
Visa have announced that consumer spending in May has seen its highest annual increase in two years. Speaking on the Today programme, Jeremy Nicholls, executive vice-president at Visa Europe, said it was “positive news”. “It’s been a good month for the high street, which is good news.

Giorgio Armani opens theatre for young generation Wednesday, 5th June 2013
Giorgio Armani revealed on Wednesday that young designers will grace the Via Bergognone theatre in Milan to showcase their collections. Andrea Pompilio will be the first of Italy’s young generation to present his spring-summer 2014 men’s collection on June 22 11:30 a.m.

N Brown to welcome new boss with lucrative "golden hello" Tuesday, 4th June 2013
Mail order group N Brown, are set to award its new chief executive Angela Spindler an estimated GBP 1.63 million when she joins in July. The Guardian have estimated that Spindler could receive GBP 4 million over three years, sparking controversy within the industry about the delegation of “golden hellos”.

ShopperTrak absorb RapidBlue Solutions Oy Tuesday, 4th June 2013
The world’s largest counter and analyser of retail foot traffic, ShopperTrak, have announced the acquisition of retail data and analytics company, RapidBlue Solutions Oy. The acquisition will enhance ShopperTrak’s current in-store counting solutions as well as provide more centres in Europe and sales offices in Scandinavia, Russia and Eastern Europe.

BRC-KPMG report sees overall good sales for May Tuesday, 4th June 2013
Good sales despite topsy-turvy temperatures is the verdict of the BRC-KPMG Retail Sales Monitor for May 2013, as sales were up 3.4 per cent on last year. Like-for-like sales were up 1.8 per cent from May 2012, when they had increased 1.3 per cent on the preceding year.

May sees bank holiday boost as non-fashion sales rise 8.5% Monday, 3rd June 2013
The BDO’s High Street Sales Tracker reported an encouraging four weeks for non-fashion sales, despite “relatively insignificant” levels of growth overall. Total like-for-like sales excluding non-store rose 0.8 per cent in the four weeks to 26 May, according to the latest report from BDO.

Dreams’ owner looks to appease suppliers with £23m payout Monday, 3rd June 2013
Sun European Partners, the new owners of bed retailer Dreams, has paid £23 million to suppliers and trade creditors as it looks to appease relations following the company’s pre-pack administration. Dreams was purchased through a pre-pack administration by Sun European Partners back in March, leaving creditors with debts of £106 million, £5 million of which was owed to HM Revenue and Customs.

CBI results find retail sales fell unexpectedly in May Wednesday, 29th May 2013
A survey by the Confederation of British Industry on Wednesday revealed British retail sales fell at their fastest pace in 16 months during May. CBI’s monthly distributive trades survey showed the sales balance fell to -11 from -1 in April, despite an analyst forecast for a reading of +3.

David Collins Studio, which is based in London, are the design team which boast a portfolio of shop floors, restaurants and bars across London, including Alexander McQueen men’s store on Savile Row, Amanda Wakeley on Fulham Road, and the Artesian bar at the Langham, to name just a few.
