PayPal to expand its offline transactions service Friday, 12th April 2013

PayPal is expected to face significant challenges in its move to offer payment services in American retail stores. The online payment business will enter into a partnership with Discover Financial Services on April 19th. The deal will allow customers to use PayPal for transactions in any store that currently accepts Discover credit cards.

PayPal to launch mobile payment service in Europe later this year Friday, 22nd February 2013

The United Kingdom will be the first country in Europe to benefit from the new system when it launches this Summer, with other countries expected to follow soon afterwards. PayPal's mobile payment service, PayPal Here, debuted in several countries last year including the United States, Australia and Japan.

PayPal adds more retailers to expansion Monday, 14th January 2013
PayPal’s move into retail outlets is proving successful after the company has exceeded its aim to sign-up 20 national retailers by the close of last year. The bid to add 20 retailers since May 2012 has been topped, with 23 US retailers now accepting payment through PayPal at their check-outs. The system works by allowing customers to insert an “Access” card, mobile number or PIN into the payment terminal.

EBay profit more than doubles thanks to PayPal lift Thursday, 19th July 2012
The online auction website saw net profits more than double in its second-quarter thanks to a surge in activity from its PayPal business and websites. EBay on Thursday announced profits of USD 692 million in the three months to the end of June, up from USD 283 million a year before. Revenue rose to 23 per cent to USD 3.4 billion for this time.

Paypal and TiVo look to turn channel hopping into shopping Tuesday, 12th June 2012
Interactive television service and marketing company TiVo has unveiled a new partnership with eBay’s PayPal, to enable TiVo users to make purchases straight from televised adverts with just a few clicks of their remote. TiVo will now work with advertisers to create PayPal-enabled “actionable purchasing” adverts, set to be aired on television in the autumn of 2012.

Warehouse campaign. Aurora Fashions will start enabling customers at its Coast, Oasis, Warehouse and Karen Millen stores to pay via a PayPal app on their mobile phones. Instead of the usual scrabble for purses and credit cards, soon all customers will need at the till point is their phone.

EBay sees Q1 results top expectations Friday, 20th April 2012
The online marketplace saw sales and profit grow at a faster rate than expected for its first quarter, thanks to strong gains in the company’s Marketplaces and PayPal businesses. The first quarter saw eBay’s online marketplace receive a surge of new users with transactions through mobile devices reporting strong growth.

EBay profits rocket to $725m Thursday, 19th April 2012

EBay names new PayPal president Thursday, 29th March 2012
EBay has appointed David Marcus as president of its PayPal business. As the current vice president of mobile for PayPal, Marcus will fill the vacant position left from Scott Thompson’s departure to Yahoo Inc in January. Having joined PayPal in August 2011, Marcus will take over as president on 2 April.
