Unilever, the consumer goods conglomerate that own Marmite, have landed themselves in hot water after hundreds of complaints flooded in following their latest advertising campaign. Approximately 400 complaints regarding the latest Marmite advert have been lodged so far, compelling the company to donate GBP 18,000 to the RSPCA.
Unilever, the consumer goods giant behind Marmite and Persil, have warned that growth in emerging markets is slowing, whilst trade in North America and Europe shows “little sign” of recovery. Underlying sales growth was 5 per cent in the second quarter, just below market expectations.
