One in three shoppers have said they will shop at Aldi and Lidl this year, as middle class consumers look to cut down the price of their weekly shop. The latest figures from IGD’s ShopperVista research show intention to shop at Aldi and Lidl currently stands at its highest level since the poll began in 2010.

Tesco has today revealed its market share has fallen to 30.7 per cent in the 12 weeks to April 15, compared to 30.9 per cent a year earlier.

Value rules the roost: Asda reaches record market share as Iceland climbs 10% Tuesday, 27th March 2012
The latest figures released on Tuesday by Kantar Worldpanel saw value and discount grocers strengthen their hold in the grocery sector, with Asda’s market share now at an all-time high. During the 12 weeks to 18 March Asda claimed a 17.9 per cent share of the market, described as an “all-time record performance” by Edward Garner, director at Kantar Worldpanel.

Waitrose market share at all time high Tuesday, 28th February 2012
The latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel show Waitrose’s market share stands at an all time high of 4.5 per cent of the grocery sector. During the 12 weeks to the 19 February, Kantar Worldpanel found the grocery market grew 4.5 per cent, broadly in line with its performance over the past six months.

Hat trick for Waitrose, tops customer satisfaction poll third time in row Friday, 16th December 2011
Waitrose has done it again- the high-end supermarket topped the Which? annual customer satisfaction survey for the third year in a row. The retailer gained a score of 83 per cent, leaving its big four rivals in the dust. Budget grocers Aldi and Lidl came second and third respectively, beating Marks & Spencer for the first time, who came in fourth place.
