Development secretary Justine Greening is putting pressure on Sir Phillip Green’s clothing empire Arcadia, to commit to signing an agreement which would improve facilities and well-being of Bangladeshi suppliers. The news comes after a string of fatal incidents in Bangladesh have laid claim to 1,800 lives since 2005.

Stewart Binnie, executive chairman at high-end fashion brand Jaeger has left after less than a year in the role, according to a report by Retail Week on Tuesday. Having taken up the position of executive chairman back in October last year, Binnie replaced Harold Tillman at the head of the premium fashion chain.

Aurora Fashions, the current parent company of Coast, Oasis and Warehouse, is said to be in the process of realigning its entire company as it looks to capitalise on the shift to online retail. According to a report by the Independent, the changes Aurora makes throughout its business model will make it easier for Kaupthing, its biggest shareholder, to sell the group's womenwear brands later on.

Aurora Fashions is believed to be considering making its Coast brand an independent company as it looks to secure the long-term prospects of its formal womenswear label. If the move went ahead, Coast would follow in the footsteps of its former sister brand Karen Millen, which was made an independent entity in 2011.

From tomorrow lunchtime impulse buys made at the office desk could beat customers on their journey home.

Karen Millen, Oasis, Coast and Warehouse owner Aurora Fashions has teamed up with same-day delivery service Shutl to offer its 90 minute delivery service across the UK.

Shopaholics in Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh will be first to trial the service, which until now was only available to customers within the M25. Customers can chose a one hour delivery window, either on the day they order or on a chosen day.

Shutl founder Tom Allason today told press the delivery service plans to each around 25 per cent of online shoppers in the UK with tomorrow’s expansion:

“Assuming everything goes to plan, we expect to launch across a further five cities in the coming weeks.  Our goal is to have sufficient coverage by November to give high-street retailers a significant competitive edge over Amazon and the other pure-play etailers this Christmas.”
