Chilly weather has cost Travis Perkins Group poor first quarter revenues Thursday, 16th May 2013
The Travis Perkins Group have reported a weak first quarter revenue, as it’s believed the chilly start to the year has affected the construction industry. The builders’ merchant, which is comprised of leading brand Wickes amongst others, saw revenue for the four months to April 30th fall 1.2 per cent from last year.

CBI surveys forecast economic growth of 1 per cent this year Monday, 13th May 2013
Britain starts to show signs of economic recovery as business activity picks up, The Guardian reported on Monday. Surveys published by the CBI suggest the UK is on the road to recovery after its double-dip recession. CBI forecast economic growth of 1 per cent this year and 2 per cent in 2014.

B&Q exits examinership with approval from the High Court in €2.4m investment plan Tuesday, 7th May 2013
B&Q Ireland has exited the examinership today with the High Court approval in the investment plan that retained 640 jobs that were potentially under threat. However, during the procedure its Waterfords store closed after being unviable resulting in 47 employees becoming redundant.

Indian cabinet approves Ikea's €1.5bn investment plan Friday, 3rd May 2013
India’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) as cleared a EUR 1.5 billion investment plan by Swedish furniture retailer Ikea - an act which formally paves the way for the business to set up shop in Asia’s third-largest economy.

Home Retail profits fall once more Wednesday, 1st May 2013
The parent company of Argos, Habitat and Homebase on Wednesday posted its fifth consecutive fall in annual profit, as customers continue to struggle under the pressure of the downturn. Home Retail Group, Britain’s biggest household goods retailer, today announced underlying pretax profit of £91 million for the year to 2 March.

Kingfisher acquires 15 stores in Romania as it eyes DIY drive Thursday, 18th April 2013
Brico Dépôt France, St Witz. Kingfisher PLC, owner of the B&Q and Brico Dépôt brands, has acquired 15 stores in Romania from French company Group Bresson for an undisclosed amount. Kingfisher on Thursday announced it would acquire the stores as it looks to tap into the strong DIY culture among homeowners in Romania, with the view to expand to around 50 stores in the long-term.

Dunelm Group sales on the up: 5% growth in Q3 Thursday, 11th April 2013
Homeware retailer Dunelm Group on Wednesday revealed a 15.4 per cent rise in total revenue in its third quarter. The positive growth resulted in a 5 per cent growth in sales for the retailer’s third quarter to 30 march 2013, Reuters reports.The company, known for equipping British homes with a wide range of homeware items, said gross margin improved by around 20 basis points during the quarter.
