The controversial tax avoidance case surrounding Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana came to a head today, with the pair sentenced to one year and eight months in prison. Despite denying the charges, the pair have been found guilty by an Italian court for hiding hundreds of millions of euros from the tax authorities.

Hermès are set to sue LVMH for stealthy stake acquisition

Hermès International SCA have confirmed that they will sue rival luxury group Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in a bid to annul the equity shares LVMH have acquired. According to French daily Les Echos, Hermès are arguing that LVMH intentionally bought equity swaps in a bid to acquire shares in the handbag specialists.

JD Sports Fashion on Wednesday revealed its outdoor categories are set for another “substantial” loss, as a return to profitability remains a “work in progress”. The sporting goods retailer today warned its outdoor division, which made a loss of £14.9 million in its last financial year to February, had to sacrifice margins in order to achieve a positive like-for-like sales figure.

The official launch party was preceded by Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce showcasing their tailored Spring-Summer 2014 collection, sending some 40 models down the streets of Mayfair.

ASOS has announced it will double its Primark offering from 70 to 140 pieces after sales in the value-driven retailer’s clothing collection went viral earlier this month. Having yet to launch an e-commerce site of its own, Primark’s initial tie-up with ASOS has already been branded a roaring success, as shoppers in areas without access to a Primark have been able to purchase items from the fast fashion brand in the comfort of their own homes.
