The largest toymaker in the US beat estimates for its third quarter results, thanks to strong sales of Fisher-Price toys and American Girl dolls.

Mattel Inc. said third quarter net income rose to USD 365.9 million, or USD 1.04 a share, from USD 300.8 million, or 86 cents a share a year before.

Fisher Price sales increased 6 per cent, while American Girl rose 16 per cent. However Mattel’s other leading brands didn’t fare as well for the quarter, with flat sales of Hot Wheels, and Barbie sales declining 4 percent.

According to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S, analysts on average estimated a profit of 99 cents a share before one-off items.
