B&Q kicks off three-year multichannel plans Monday, 15th October 2012

Taking pointers from stablemate Screwfix, B&Q this week launched a series of multi-channel initiatives designed to rejuvenate its approach to bricks-and-mortar stores.

Project Darwin, a three-year initiative by parent company Kingfisher will see B&Q make a series of strategic changes to its multi-channel model, as it looks to compete for survival in the retail sector.

The first of the space-changing plans kicked off this week, as B&Q split its 120,000 sq ft Belvedere store in two, subletting half the space to a new small-scale Asda supermarket.

Due to re-launch on 26 October, the new look B&Q follows a spate of redundancies made last week as the group looks to restructure its head offices.
