French department store Printemps has two new stores in the pipeline for 2014.

The stores will be the first that Printemps has opened in more than 30 years.

Chairman and chief executive officer Paolo de Cesare has told the press that an administrative commission approved the retailer’s plan to open a smaller department store in the Carrousel du Louvre mall.

The 32,000 square foot premises will occupy space formerly used by Virgin Megastore.

Printemps is also planning to open a two-storey, 64,500 square foot store at the Terrasses du Port mall in Marseille.

Currently, Printemps operates 15 stores in France as well as its Boulevard Haussmann flagship store in Paris.
