Retail sales climb in September Thursday, 27th September 2012

Retail sales edged up for the month of September, according to a survey by the Confederation of British Industry.

The CBI’s trade survey’s sales balance was up to +6 in September from -3. Analysts expected a rise to +5.

The expected sales balance for October rose to +15.

Supermarkets, shoe stores and chemists reported strong sales improvements, while stores trading in recreational goods as well as home and DIY stores continue to flag.
