Burberry opens retail behemoth on London's Regent Street Thursday, 13th September 2012
The 44,000 square foot space plays host to a slew of gadgetry that The Jetsons would have been proud of.
100 huge screens play videos of acoustic tracks endorsed by the fashion house, as well as displays of their classic trench coats and even stormy weather. Expect daily showers to take over every screen in the store at regular intervals.
The changing rooms boast ‘magic mirrors’ which trigger catwalk footage of any garment held up in front of them as well as close-up shots and short films on how the garment was made.
Not only this, Burberry Bespoke encourages customers to design their very own version of the world-famous Burberry trench.
The store also features a hydraulic stage to showcase musicians to customers as well as an online audience.
“Burberry Regent Street is one of the most architecturally and culturally significant projects we have undertaken,” says Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer.
“In renovating this iconic London building we have worked with some of the UK’s finest craftsmen to restore a wealth of historic features, at the same time as pushing the boundaries of digital technology. The result is a space defined by contrasts: at once imposing and intimate, its juxtaposition of craft and innovation is designed to delight, surprise and entertain. It is a reflection of how we approach everything at Burberry - revealing the different layers of the brand's heritage within a modern context, and forever celebrating design and expert craftsmanship.”
The store is certainly getting the capital in the mood for London Fashion Week, which is due to start on 17th September.
