John Lewis is on track to open its first ever flexible format store in Exeter this autumn.

The premises, which covers 65,000 square feet, will be the retailer’s most omni-channel store to date.

The store will include 960 “shoppable” visual merchandising boxes and allow for greater access to the johnlewis.com website in an effort to maximise the omni-channel possibilities.

“The whole shop is a new concept,” retail implementation manager Gavin Smith told Fashion United. “Every assortment will be represented, but not in its full width on shelf. For example, one plate of each design will be displayed, with the rest of the range available to order online from a johnlewis.com terminal nearby.”
