It’s a Scandi thing: Iceland’s favourite burger joint arrives in London Friday, 10th August 2012

It seems London’s appetite for all things Scandinavian knows no bounds, as Iceland’s leading burger group Tommi’s Burger Joint opens its first restaurant in Marylebone.

With five locations already proving wildly popular in Iceland, entrepreneur Tomas Tómasson will now bring his cult burger joints to London, opening his first store on a short term let in Marylebone earlier this week.

“We are hugely excited about bringing our burgers to London as the capital.” Tómasson said.

“Having eaten one every day for the last eight years and travelling the world trying out different styles, I know that a good burger joint should be fun, relaxed and most importantly great, so we hope Londoners enjoy our take on the burger phenomenon!”

Working with retail property advisors CWM, who acted on behalf of landlord Howard De Walden, Tommi’s Burger Joint has taken a 78 sq m site to trial the UK market. The 25-seat burger joint will focus on a vintage feel, with exposed brickwork and furniture made of reclaimed wood. American memorabilia and film stars will adorn the walls to add to the Stateside diner vibe.

The business, which also runs Hard Rock Cafe’s operations in Iceland, is now considering a number of new, slightly larger units to open in the future, with CWM acting on their behalf.
