HMV CEO resigns as former Jessops boss takes the reins Thursday, 2nd August 2012

HMV on Thursday announced its chief executive of six years Simon Fox will step down next month, as former Jessops chief executive Trevor Moore prepares to take over.

After finally securing a refinancing deal with banks for the struggling music and entertainment retailer, Fox has resigned from HMV, to be replaced by Moore on 3 September.

Speaking to press on Thursday, Fox said he is “proud to be leaving HMV with a profitable future secured”.

HMV chairman Philip Rowley paid tribute to Mr Fox: "I want to thank Simon for his contribution to HMV. He has led the company through a turbulent period for the entertainment retailing industry and has played an invaluable part in securing HMV's future."

Moore will be joined by former Jessops chairman David Adams, who joined the HMV board in June.
