Westfield Stratford City to close to public as Olympic Park braces for thousands of visitors Thursday, 2nd August 2012

Westfield’s Stratford City has announced new restrictions on its opening times and access for the general public, as the Olympic Park prepares for an influx of London Games visitors.

Over 200,000 spectators and workers are expected to arrive at the Olympic Park tomorrow. To accommodate the surge in visitors, Stratford City will not be open to the general public from 10:30 to 17:00 on Friday 3 August and Saturday 4 August. Only accredited workers, Games ticket holders and people picking up their passes or using hospitality venues will be able to visit the shopping centre on these days.

Shops will be open until 23:00 for the general public outside of the restrictions.

Paul Deighton, Chief Executive, LOCOG, said: “Because of the huge number of people coming to the Park on those days at certain times we have to restrict general public access to Westfield Stratford City and we are encouraging people to avoid travelling to Stratford unless they have a ticket.”
