Amazon launches frontpage recruitment drive Tuesday, 24th July 2012

The world’s largest internet retailer on Monday launched a new recruitment drive on its front page, as it looks for more staff to fill its expanding network of warehouses.

Taking the spotlight on the landing page in an open letter format, Amazon.com Inc chief executive Jeff Bezos last night launched the Amazon Career Choice Program, which will pay up to USD 8,000 over four years for employees to take technical and vocational courses in areas with high demand for skill sets, such as engineering, accounting and information technology.

Bezos went on to add that the upcoming holiday season will see their needs double in terms of staff members:

"For most of the year, our full-time fulfillment center employees can keep up with customer demand," Bezos wrote in his letter. "But during the holiday gift-giving season, our peak needs temporarily double."

The recruitment drive is likely to see a huge influx of interest from US job seekers looking to train with Amazon.
