Shoppers head to John Lewis for ‘retail therapy’ as sales rise 15.3% Friday, 13th July 2012

John Lewis has posted yet another week of double digit sales as the unpredictable weather for once worked in the retailer’s favour.

The department store group said on Friday sales rose 15.3 per cent year-on-year to £71.6 million in the week to 7 July.

Buying director Paula Nickolds said: "The continued miserable weather, coupled with the third week of a successful Clearance (sale), saw customers heading to our shops for some retail therapy.”

Sales of electrical and home technology items were up 34.1 per cent, while homewares rose 8.9 per cent and fashion 9.4 per cent.
