Amazon goes back to base with Brazilian expansion Monday, 2nd July 2012

Amazon.com is reportedly planning to set up a Brazilian digital book shop as it seeks to cash in on the fast-growing retail market.

The e-commerce giant is preparing to bring the hugely successful Kindle e-reader and a Portuguese-language catalogue of digital books to the country.

According to Reuters, the company is choosing to bring only digital products to Brazil as a result of the country’s logistic and tax difficulties.

Brazil’s online retail market is already worth an impressive USD 10.5 billion – a figure which is expected to grow 25 per cent thanks to the ever-swelling ranks of the middle classes.
