British big spenders boost retailers over Jubilee weekend Monday, 11th June 2012

 

Millions of British people and tourists braved the adverse weather over the jubilee weekend to stock up on party essentials, boosting retailers and suppliers alike.

Companies across the UK have unveiled record sales over the four-day period.

Sainsbury’s said it sold 403 miles of bunting and over 450,000 flags whilst The Co-operative Group said sales of BBQ products and accessories almost tripled.

According to The Grocer, Strawberry supplier Berry Gardens reported its biggest-ever single sales day on 1 June. It sold £1.5m worth of strawberries over the period.
