Morrisons gears up for online launch Thursday, 31st May 2012

Following in the footsteps of Tesco and Sainsbur’s, Morrisons chief executive has said the supermarket will be revealing plans for an online operation later this year.
The UK’s fourth largest supermarket is thought to be gearing up to go head-to-head with rivals to compete for online shopping baskets. Having taken a 10 per cent stake in New York-based food website Fresh Direct last year, the retailer sent a team over to analyse the potential of an e-commerce operation.
According to This is Money, Philips has told press the delegation returned with “loads of ideas,” adding: “I feel encouraged. There will be more news later in the year. If we do it, we will do it at the end of next year.’
