American Apparel is in hot water with the Advertising Standards Authority after advertisements on the fashion brand’s website were slammed for containing “gratuitous nudity”.

The ads were deemed “exploitative” and likely to cause “serious and widespread offence”.

In response, American Apparel said: "…it was important to judge what was and was not offensive by reference to the current times and the views of the majority of decent and reasonable people, not a small and puritanically-minded minority".
