Waitrose adds six more Little formats to London this year

Waitrose have unveiled plans to open six more of its Little format stores in central London this year.

Just one year after opening its first Little Waitrose store in Old Brompton Road, Kensington, the high-end supermarket said it would open new stores in Fulham Palace Road, Muswell Hill, Parsons Green, Vauxhall, and two other central London locations by the end of 2012.

“We have quickly established ourselves within the convenience sector and annual sales are strong. Today’s announcement underlines the role Little Waitrose will play in driving our growth and our ambition to make us accessible and convenient for everyone in London,” said Waitrose director of store development Diana Hunter, .
Waitrose will create 350 new jobs by opening the new central London convenience stores.

The supermarket also has plans to open more Little Waitrose stores outside the capital, with new stores in Ipswich and Birmingham launching in the next few weeks.
