Signet reveals 7.8% rise in holiday sales Tuesday, 10th January 2012



The largest speciality retail jeweller in the US and the UK on Tuesday revealed same-store sales over nine weeks of the Christmas holiday season grew by 7.8 per cent year-on-year.

Representing around 80 per cent of total group sales, US same-store sales increased 9.2 per cent for the holiday period.

In the UK, which accounts for around 20 per cent of total group sales, Signet’s same-store sales rose by 1.8 per cent for the same period.

The retailer, which operates H. Samuel and Ernest Jones jewellers, said internet sales rose by 24 per cent for the nine week period. The retailer now expected income in fiscal 2012 to increase from 64 per cent to 67 per cent, or from USD 494 million to USD 501 million.
