“We’re getting our groove back” American Apparel’s Dov Charney remarks on results Friday, 6th January 2012

Chief executive and chairman of the young fashion company, Dov Charney interrupted his American road trip to remark on the company’s strong December sales.

“We’re getting our groove back a bit,” Charney told press, attributing the increase in sales due to improvements in product efficiency over the 2010 period.

Now on the closing leg of a 10-day store inspection road trip, Charney spent the Christmas holidays visiting American Apparel outlets he was yet to see in the Southern states. “We’re methodically going through each door, inspecting them and looking for ways to improve productivity,” said Charney.

American Apparel continues to seek new financing options for its crippling debt load, which includes USD 47.6 million owed on a Bank of America credit facility that matures in July and USD 114 million owed to Lion Capital.
