Bluewater beats Westfield to top UK shopping centre Monday, 19th December 2011
Westfield’s Stratford City offering fell to third place as Kent’s Bluewater tops the league table of UK shopping centres.
Compiled by retail proper expert Trevor Wood Associates, the index places Gateshead’s Metro Centre in second, with Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush in fourth position.
The report looked at the top 500 centres in the UK, scoring them on attractiveness to shoppers, retailers and investors, analysing everything from tenant turnover to number of shop vacancies.
Of the top 10 schemes, six were out of town shopping centres, reflecting the extent shoppers are lured away from the traditional high street.
