Waitrose and Travelodge team up with three new hotel-and-retail projects Monday, 28th November 2011

Up-market grocer Waitrose on Monday announced a new partnership with hotel company Travelodge, which will see the pair working on the construction of three new hotel-and-retail sites.

Sidcup, in south east London will see the first of the completed projects, when an 84-room hotel and a 10,000 sq ft Waitrose convenience store opens in August 2012. This will be joined by a 154-room hotel and 6,000 sq ft convenience store in Vauxhall in November next year, and finished off with an 81-room hotel and 37,000 sq ft supermarket in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

In addition to these three sites, Travelodge is now developing a further 25 co-partnership development deals with a number of large supermarkets across the UK.

The co-development programme represents a £130 million investment and will create around 250 Travelodge jobs.
