Topshop reports 8% of sales are via mobile phones Wednesday, 2nd November 2011

Eight per cent of all Topshop sales come from purchases made on mobile phones, a sign that the fashion retailer is a leader in this particular channel.

The Arcadia-owned company is seeing a higher proportion of sales via mobile phone that the average for retailer, after mobile sales grew by three to four times this year.

Topshop will soon launch a dedicated mobile site and iPad and iPhone apps.

Kate Walmsley, head of e-commerce at Topshop, said, “Eight per cent of sales are coming through mobile, if you include iPad in there, which is three or four times what it was last year. It’s pretty strong growth, so we are recognising that it’s a really important channel for us.”
