Suits you sir: House of Fraser’s £1m revamp on men’s formalwear dept Friday, 7th October 2011

Sounding more akin to a dandy-hangout than a department store, House of Fraser will next month launch its refurbished Oxford Street formalwear offering.

Inspired by the traditional gentlemen’s club, the 6,500 sq ft department will come fully equipped with a library, lounge and bar.

Customers will be able to contemplate their latest purchases over a whisky as they relax in the leather sofas or swap sock colour etiquette over coffee.

House of Fraser director of buying for menswear Jackie Hay said the formalwear section of the store would require a slower, more considered pace.

According to Hay, if successful the new design will be rolled out in other House of Fraser stores.
