British Land and Blackstone hit by Broadgate listing Friday, 3rd June 2011

The City’s 32 acre Broadgate office complex will be recommended for listing, in a move that will block investments planned by joint owners  British Land and Blackstone.

Having initially sought a certificate of immunity from listing for 4 and 6 Broadgate, British Land has said the listing will block £850 million worth of investments planed for the site, which was set to become a 700,000 sq ft headquarters for UBS.

English Heritage will confirm the recommendation of the complex today, which runs from Bishopsgate to Liverpool Street station and includes the Broadgate Circle and Exchange Square.

Culture, media and sports secretary Jeremy Hunt will make the final decision on Broadgate’s future.
